Biographical Note
Douglas V. Steere was born on August 31, 1901 in Harbor Beach, Michigan. He was a professor of philosophy at Haverford College from 1928-1964. His Quaker post-war relief work in Finland, Norway, and Poland earned him the Decoration of Knight 1st Class of the White Rose of Finland.
