Biographical / Historical

Elizabeth Peace Sturges Anthony was born on May 11, 1910 in Providence, RI. She graduated from Smith College in 1933 and obtained a masters in social work from the University of Pennsylvania in 1955. Anthony worked at the Marriage Counsel of Philadelphia and the Friends Service in West Chester as a certified marriage counselor. She and her husband Robert Anthony were lifelong members of the Third Street Friends Meeting and published Water Over the Dam together in 1972, a collection of her poems and his artwork. Anthony also published Waves in the Making, a book of her own artwork and poems. She passed away on April 11, 2012.
