Scope and Contents
This collection is composed of the single photocopy of Leonard Stout Kenworthy's "Quaker Berlin Diary." In his entries, Kenworthy describes his experiences in Germany during World War II working with German Quakers to assist unaffiliated German Jews to leave Germany. Entries provide details about meetings he attended and records correspondence he wrote and received as letters and telegrams.

Biographical Note
Leonard Stout Kenworthy (1912-1991) was born on March 26, 1912, to Murray Kenworthy and Ida Lenore Holloway in Indiana. Kenworthy attended Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, and graduated in 1933. In 1940 and 1941, Leonard Kenworthy was director of the Quaker International Center in Berlin, Germany, run by the American Friends Service Committee. He worked with German Quakers to assist jewish people who had no religious affiliation but were defined as Jewish by the Nazis to leave Germany. Kenworthy died December 17, 1991.
