Biographical Note
Joseph S. Elkinton (1830-1905) was born April 27, 1830, to Quakers Joseph Elkinton and Mary Nutt Elkinton. He married Malinda Patterson on September 3, 1856, and the couple had five children: Mary Patterson Elkinton (b. 1857), Joseph Elkinton (b. 1859), William Tilman Elkinton (b. 1860), Alfred Cope Elkinton (1863), and Thomas Elkinton (b. 1867). Joseph S. Elkington died May 18, 1905.
