This collection is comprised of the single volume account book of John Gibbons's household expenses for his home in Philadelphia, for the years from 1790 to 1837. Entries include payments for dry goods, wages for servants, saddles, and services, such as sending out the washing or a home visit from a doctor.

Biographical Note
Joseph Gibbons (1762-1837) was born October 16, 1762, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of John and Martha Gibbons. In April of 1789, he married Sarah Milhous. Joseph Gibbons died on May 1, 1837.
