Biographical Note
John Mickle Whitall (1800-1877) was born on November 4, 1800, in Gloucester, New Jersey, the son of Captain John Siddon Whitall and Sarah Mickle. He married Mary Tatum, and the couple had four children: Hannah T. Whitall (1832-1911), Sarah Whitall (1833-1880), James Whitall (1834-1896), and Mary Whitall (1836-1888). He died on June 12, 1877, in Deptford, New Jersey.
Mary Cope Whitall (1835-1897) was born January 21, 1835, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Marmaduke C. and Sarah W. Cope. She married James Whitall. Mary Cope Whitall died January 9, 1897.
Israel Franklin Whitall (ca. 1795-1873) was born May 24, 1795, in Union, New Jersey, the son of Captain John Siddon Whitall and Sarah Mickle. He married Alice C. Bacon (1809-1895), and the couple had two children: Caroline (1835-1907) and Alice B. (1839-1868). He died December 4, 1873, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
