Historical Note
The Young Men's Christian Association of Haverford College was organized by Haverford students on 10th month 21st 1879, with about 20 members. The purpose of the association, from the constiution, was "to promote growth in grace and Chrstian fellowship among its members, and aggresive Chrstian work, especially by and for students" (A History of Haverford College for the First Sixty Years of its Existence, 1892 pages 447-448). The organization held weekly meetings for students and faculty, and did charitable work in the surrounding neighborhood and Philadelphia.
