Biographical / Historical
The Feminist Group was founded by Haverford College students in 1983 to increase individual and community awareness of feminist issues and to provide a united feminist voice on campus. The group organized speakers, suggested modifications to the curriculum to better reflect feminist values, and educated its members and others on campus about feminist issues. The group became known as the Feminist Alliance in 1988. As the Feminist Alliance, the group published a literary magazine entitled "The Other Side of Silence" and coordinated Take Back the Night events on campus. The Feminist Alliance was active until the early 2000s.
