Haverford College South Asian Society Collection

The Haverford College South Asian Society (SAS) has historically hosted a wide variety of events centered around celebrating South Asian cultures through social spaces. SAS hosts cultural dinners every semester where the community comes together to enjoy South Asian food, dancing, and music. In addition, SAS organizes parties, Bollywood movie nights, chai and samosa events, game nights, and workshops typically centered around South Asian cooking to open up more spaces for conversation. Two of their more regular and larger events are the Eid/Diwali celebration in the fall and the Holi celebration in the spring, where students enjoy catered food and South Asian music, and all students are encouraged to wear South Asian style clothing. All students are welcome as a part of the South Asian Society, regardless of whether they identify as South Asian. SAS aims to support the South Asian community at Haverford in any way that their members need.
