George Stewardson letter
Scope and Contents
This collection contains a single letter from George Stewardson to Daniel B. Smith, the president of Haverford College at the time. The letter begins with two pages outlining what was said at a particular meeting of the Haverford College Committee of Instruction. The primary topic of the meeting was the formation of a sub-committee to evaluate how far along certain classes are in their coursework. Stewardson then asks Smith to determine which classes should be subject to examination, and furthermore, which students are to be evaluated. The final two pages are devoted to a transcription of the meeting minutes. The letter is dated August 23, 1843.

Biographical Note
George Stewardson was a Quaker and founding member of Haverford College. He served on the Haverford College Board of Managers from December 30, 1830 to May 14, 1849.
