Jonathan Richards letters
Scope and Contents
This collection contains four letters addressed to various parties, dated between 1854 and 1856. The letters are all authored by Jonathan Richards, and concern many of his responsibilities as the superintendent of Haverford College. In the first letter, Richards suggests that the Board of Managers revise the suspension/expulsion policy as he believes it is lenient and allows for students to take advantage of the long process. The second letter discusses a recent event in which a certain group of students cut holes into both the water tank and waste tank; one student was expelled. The third letter concerns a possible vacation for Richards and his wife, while the fourth deals with a potential candidate for a teaching role at Haverford, recommended to Richards by a friend.
