Henry D. Gregory letters

 Collection
Identifier: HCS-001-047

Scope and Contents

This collection contains two letters from Henry D. Gregory to Charles Yarnall and an unknown recipient. In the first, dated March 28, 1845, Gregory reports on the progress made by his students throughout the previous semester, commenting specifically on their grasp of important grammatical concepts in Greek and Latin. This letter contains a chart, detailing a measure of success among each of his classes. The second letter, dated August 8, 1845, is also a progress report, likely presented to Charles Yarnall, detailing the texts read by each of Gregory’s classes. A table of mean grades is, once again, present. Gregory also uses this letter to comment on the untimely closing of the school, though he still praises Yarnall for the kindness he has shown to him.
