Scope and Contents

The collection consists of Archibald MacIntosh's papers created during his tenure at Haverford College. These include a typescript of a book called The Story of William Maul Measey's Trust at Haverford College, Fifteen Year Review of The Measey Trust 1954-1970, materials used in writing of the book, College Presidents' reports, Haverford College Sounding Board III from January 1974, Haverford Trends 1946-1956, Horizons 1969, documents pertaining to College's expansion and its admission and enrollment, data, excerpt from a book presumably called "During Wartime Education," and general information about William Maul Measey.

Biographical Note

Archibald "Mac" MacIntosh, Haverford College class of 1921, served as a coach, director of athletics, professor of psychology, Haverford College's first director of admissions, its first dean of freshmen and the first vice-president. He was also the chief advisor to four presidents of the College and an acting president twice during his 63-year-long tenure at Haverford. He died in 1980. The MacIntosh Award is given in his name for exemplary service to the College in the area of admissions and the Archibald MacIntosh award is given to a sophomore who during their first year on campus emerged as the top scholar-athlete in the class. Both honors are awarded annually.
