Elliston Perot Morris Jr. scrapbook

Elliston Perot Morris Jr. (1899-1980), the son of Marriott Canby Morris and Jane Rhoads, was named after his grandfather. He was from Germantown, Pennsylvania, and at the age of seven, he began photographing family scenes. He and his family enjoyed summers at "Dalibarda," a lodge at the Pocono Lake Preserve, and at "Cedar Mer" at Sea Girt, New Jersey.

Morris was a member of the Haverford College class of 1922, however he entered in 1917 and left from 1919 through 1920 to aid during the Reconstruction after World War I in France. During his time at Haverford, Morris was involved in the Cricket team, Wogglebug (a type of soccer) team, campus soccer teams, radio club, and the scientific society. He was also an active member of the Friends Relief Committee.

He went on to receive a master's of forestry degree (MF) from Yale University. He was a lifelong member of the Society of Friends, and did work with American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) in France after WWI and in West Virginia during the Great Depression. He was a member of the Westtown School Committee, and the Haverford College and Friends Hospital Corporations. He was a member of the Southampton Monthly Meeting and participated in the Bucks Quarterly and Philadelphia Yearly meetings. During World War II, he was jailed as a conscientious objector.

In 1943, he married Anna Sayler, and they had four children (William P., Eleanor M. Cox, Jonathan W., and David M.). He died in 1980, at his home in Southampton, Pennsylvania.
