Elliston Perot Morris Jr. scrapbook
Scope and Contents
The scrapbook covers Morris’s time at Haverford College from 1917 through 1922, with a few documents from 1923. A significant portion of the scrapbook contains photographs of the campus, professors and administrators, athletics teams and events (including the football, soccer, and track), and several photographs of fellow students. The rest of the scrapbook is comprised of drawings, newspaper clippings, programs and brochures, smaller photographs, and other miscellanea. Information about student traditions and events is also present in the form of programs, fliers, and dance cards, as well as obituaries of several faculty members, including Francis B. Gummere and Isaac Sharpless. In addition to documenting the Morris’s time at Haverford, the scrapbook also contains material on events of national importance including a spread concerning the end of World War I with photographs, newspaper clippings, and confetti from the parade at Market Street, and informational material from the first election in which women could vote nationally.
There is no information in the scrapbook about his time off from college/abroad from 1918 to 1920.

Biographical Note
Elliston Perot Morris Jr. (1899-1980), the son of Marriott Canby Morris and Jane Rhoads, was named after his grandfather. He was from Germantown, Pennsylvania, and at the age of seven, he began photographing family scenes. He and his family enjoyed summers at "Dalibarda," a lodge at the Pocono Lake Preserve, and at "Cedar Mer" at Sea Girt, New Jersey.
Morris was a member of the Haverford College class of 1922, however he entered in 1917 and left from 1919 through 1920 to aid during the Reconstruction after World War I in France. During his time at Haverford, Morris was involved in the Cricket team, Wogglebug (a type of soccer) team, campus soccer teams, radio club, and the scientific society. He was also an active member of the Friends Relief Committee.
He went on to receive a master's of forestry degree (MF) from Yale University. He was a lifelong member of the Society of Friends, and did work with American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) in France after WWI and in West Virginia during the Great Depression. He was a member of the Westtown School Committee, and the Haverford College and Friends Hospital Corporations. He was a member of the Southampton Monthly Meeting and participated in the Bucks Quarterly and Philadelphia Yearly meetings. During World War II, he was jailed as a conscientious objector.
In 1943, he married Anna Sayler, and they had four children (William P., Eleanor M. Cox, Jonathan W., and David M.). He died in 1980, at his home in Southampton, Pennsylvania.
