Scope and Contents
This scrapbook contains documents related to Howard J. Hogenauer’s student life and general on-campus happenings, predominantly from his freshman year (1920-1921), but also pertaining to years throughout his four-year tenure at Haverford (1920-1924). Among the collected materials are official college forms and notices, a contacts page with names, addresses, and notes from various classmates, dating between 1920 and 1922; programs, tickets, and clippings related to sporting events, cultural events, and lectures that took place on campus or in the surrounding area; clippings from the Haverford News written by Howard during the paper’s seven week period of tryouts; photographs of the Haverford campus in winter; programs from plays that Howard saw in New York City during his breaks from school; and event programs and articles sent to Howard by his family members during his time away at school.

Biographical Notes
Howard J. Hogenauer was born in New York City, New York, on November 21, 1902. He entered Haverford in 1920. During his college career, Howard’s family resided in New York City’s Bronx borough. As a student, he was actively involved on campus during his freshman year, writing for the Haverford News and avidly attending lectures, concert series, and campus sporting events, namely football and gymnastics. He was also a theater aficionado, frequently attending plays in New York City during his visits home from college.
