John R. Hubbard letter
Scope and Contents
This collection contains one letter written by John R. Hubbard and addressed to John F. Rowell. In the letter, Hubbard updates Rowell on how things have been going at Haverford since his departure. Hubbard includes his thoughts about certain professors and details a strife ocurring between members of the Loganian Society. The end of the letter implies that Hubbard recently accompanied Rowell on a trip to Manchester, New Hampshire, and Hubbard explains his journey back to Philadelphia. The letter is signed "as ever thy friend."

Biographical Note
The author of this letter is John Russel Hubbard, who entered Haverford in 1851 and graduated in 1855. During his time at Haverford, Hubbard was an assistant teacher for the classics department from 1853-1854. The recipient of the letter, John F. Rowell, also entered Haverford in 1851 but left in 1853. He worked as an assistant teacher for the introductory department in 1853. After leaving Haverford, he taught at the Friends' School in Providence, Rhode Island.
