Biographical Note
Edmund Rodman was born in New Bedford, Massachussetts in 1824 and entered Haveford's sophomore class in 1839. He was a dealer in sperm and whale oil, a candle manufacturer, an oil broker, and an artist. Rodman served 14 years on the school committee of New Bedford, 2 years as chairman. He was also the secretary of the Board of Trustees for the Friends' Academy in New Bedford fo 35 years, and a trustee of the same association. He was also a member of the Home Guard for six months in 1861. He died in New Bedford in 1903.
