James Carey Thomas Address to Alumni Society of Haverford College

 Collection
Identifier: HCS-003-148

Scope and Contents

This collection contains notes for a speech given by James Carey Thomas to the Alumni Society of Haverford College. The majority of the material recalls Thomas’s time at Haverford, making references to the activities and events which had the most impact on his early life. Thomas recalls, with great fondness, a past Haverford tradition of carving one’s name into a particular tree as well as walks to the Schuylkill River. He credits an early education in the Society of Friends with the successes of those gathered and preaches the importance of growing up with Quaker values. The notes are undated.
