Henry Hale Graham Sharpless poem and letter
Scope and Contents
This collection contains a poem and letter written by Henry Hale Graham Sharpless and addressed to “Rebecca,” likely Rebecca Sharpless. The first four pages of the note are written in rhyming couplets. Sharpless laments Rebecca’s leaving him and says that he owes his remaining happiness to “Anna.” He also mentions the upcoming Quaker yearly meeting. The last page of the note is written in typical epistolary format. Sharpless apologizes to Rebecca for his previous poetic form and explains his current condition, both mentally and within the snowy conditions he is writing during.
