Biographical / Historical
A formal Friends meeting was first held in 1976 at Green Haven Correctional Facility. The worship meeting began as part of the Quaker Project on Community Conflict, designed to train people incarcerated at the Green Haven Correctional Facility in processes of non-violent resolution, but continued after 1976 as a more traditional Quaker worship group.
It remains active as the Green Haven Prison Preparative Meeting under care of New York Yearly Meeting.
