Biographical / Historical

Oblong Monthly Meeting was set off from Purchase Monthly Meeting in 1744. It became a part of Purchase Quarterly Meeting on its establishment in 1745 and became part of Nine Partners Quarterly Meeting in 1783. In 1828 the meeting split into Orthodox and Hicksite branches, and the Orthodox branch was laid down in 1921.
