Biographical / Historical

Butternuts Preparative Meeting was probably indulged as a meeting of worship 10mo 1808 by Duanesburg Monthly Meeting. In 1mo 1810, Butternuts was established as a preparative meeting, as a part of Butternuts Monthly Meeting. At the time of the Separation, Butternuts Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) was laid down and all members but one were retained by Orthodox. In 5mo 1881 Butternuts Preparative Meeting (Orthodox) changed its name to Morris Preparative Meeting (Orthodox). In 1889 the meeting continued under the name of West Laurens Preparative Meeting.
