Biographical / Historical

An indulged meeting at Bordentown was established by Chesterfield Monthly Meeting in 1739. A preparative meeting was established in 1775, but discontinued in 1778. A second preparative meeting was established in 1804. The Orthodox preparative meeting and meeting for worship were discontinued in 1828 and the members transferred to Chesterfield Preparative Meeting. Bordentown Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) was discontinued in 1878; its members were transferred to Chesterfield Preparative Meeting. Bordentown Meeting was discontinued by Burlington Quarterly Meeting in 1904.
