Records of Greenwich Preparative Meeting, 1817-1952, include: minutes of the Hicksite men's meeting and joint sessions, 1841-1948; minutes of the Orthodox men’s meeting, 1823-1874; women’s meeting minutes, 1807-1816; Hicksite women's meeting minutes, 1850-1890; Orthodox women’s meeting minutes, 1817-1884; and treasurer's account book, 1884-1953.

Biographical / Historical

A seasonal meeting for worship known as "Cohansey" was established under Salem Monthly Meeting in 1686. In 1737, the meeting was allowed on a year-round basis. A preparative meeting was established in 1760. In 1783, the meetings at Greenwich became part of Greenwich Monthly Meeting. Greenwich Preparative Meeting (Orthodox) was discontinued in 1893.The meeting for worship was transferred to Woodbury the same year; it was discontinued in 1903, re-established in 1906, and finally discontinued in 1911. In 1948, Greenwich Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) was incorporated as a body of trustees for Greenwich Monthly Meeting (Hicksite).
