Scope and Contents

Records of Robeson Monthly Meeting, pre-Separation, Orthodox, and Hicksite. Records of the pre-Separation meeting include: men's meeting minutes, 1789-1812; rough or clerk's copies of minutes, 1789-1826; minutes of the meeting of ministers and elders, 1798-1819. Records of the Hicksite meeting include: Rough minutes of the men's meeting 1826-1839, and miscellaneous papers, 1799-1837, & n.d. Records of the Orthodox meeting include: minutes of the men's meeting, 1812-1862; women's meeting minutes, 1789-1837; removals issued, 1790-1870; ministers and elders' minutes, 1820-1834; miscellaneous papers, 1825-1840.

Biographical / Historical

Robeson Monthly Meeting was established in 1789 by Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting.

Two meetings emerged after the Hicksite Separation of 1827. Robeson Monthly Meeting (Hicksite) was discontinued in 1841. Robeson Monthly Meeting (Orthodox) was discontinued in 1872, and its members were attached to Bradford Monthly Meeting.
