Biographical / Historical

An indulged meeting at Christiana Bridge was established in 1772 under Wilmington Monthly Meeting. Until 1781, the meeting alternated between Christiana & Stanton. In 1781, Chester (Concord) Quarterly Meeting approved the establishment of this meeting, known as White Clay Creek Meeting. A preparative meeting was established in 1784. In 1803, the name was changed to Stanton. The Orthodox preparative meeting was discontinued in 1828 and its members transferred to Wilmington Monthly Meeting; the meeting for worship was discontinued by 1838. The Hicksite preparative meeting was discontinued in 1891. Regular meetings for worship were discontinued in 1920. Concord Quarterly Meeting discontinued the meeting in 1921
