Biographical / Historical
The Elsie K. Powell House is a Quaker retreat and conference center located in Old Chatham, New York. The property was donated to New York Yearly Meeting by its owner, Elsie K. Powell, Jr. in 1960. Prior to this, the property was known as Pitt Hall, and served as a summer camp for girls. The current mission of Powell House is to "foster spiritual growth after the manner of Friends...and to strengthen the application of Friends' testimonies in the world."
