Biographical / Historical

The American Peace and Arbitration League was incorporated in 1909 with the goal of working towards "universal peace by conciliation and arbitration... adequate armament for national security..." The league was conservative on collateral questions and supported heavy rearmament in preparation for World War One. Active members were William Howard Taft, Henry Clews, and Theodore Roosevelt. Based in New York City. Flourished between 1909-1914.
