Biographical / Historical

The Association for World Education is an international, non-governmental, voluntary organization of individuals and institutions. Originally incorporated in New York State in 1970 as Association of World Colleges and Universities (AWCU), it changed name to the Association for World Education (AWE) in October 1974. AWCU was proposed by Quaker Morris R. Mitchell (1895-1976) in the 1960s as an accreditation agency for world college programs. The association promotes and encourages all types of innovative educational programs with a world perspective. Based in New York City.
