Scope and Contents

The collection includes publications of the Church Peace Union from 1914-. There are also a few organizational and administrative documents such as minutes of meetings, correspondence, financial records, drafts of writings. Dr. William I. Hull of Swarthmore College was one of the trustees of the Church Peace Union and there is a folder of his correspondence included in the collection. From the late 1930s onward the collection contains mostly publications from the Church Peace Union and the Council on Religion and International Affairs.

The Church Peace Union was founded by Andrew Carnegie in 1914. The organization included Protestants, Catholics, and Jews. In 1961, the name was changed to the Council on Religion and International Affairs.
