Biographical / Historical
Fifty-four activists from throughout the U.S. who fasted in Washington D.C., Apr. 2-9, 1950 to protest the manufacture of the hydrogen bomb by the U.S.; similar fasts were held in other states and countries in support of the Committee. Members included individuals from the New York Fellowship of Reconciliation, Peacemakers, the Catholic Worker, and the War Resisters League; participants included Bayard Rustin, Dorothy Day, David Dellinger, A.J. Muste, and Wallace Nelson.
