Biographical / Historical
General Strike for Peace; leaders included Judith Malina and Julian Beck supported by a consultative committee of leaders of various peace organizations; issued calls for a general strike to take place in January 1962, November 1962 and May 1963; held peace walks, mass meetings and distributed leaflets asking people to take a pledge to "strike" by refusing to go to work or buy anything except necessities; demonstrations were planned for several U.S. cities.
