Biographical / Historical

Frieda Langer; Frieda Langer Lazarus, 1896-1968; married to Arthur Lazarus; was a pacifist, antiwar activist and advocate for conscientious objectors. She was a founder of the Metropolitan Board for Conscientious Objectors, and a member of the Women's Peace Union and the War Resisters League. Between the World Wars, she worked for disarmament, and was WPU delegate to the World Disarmament Conference in 1932 in Geneva; she was also active in the Workers' Defense League and in the Brooklyn (N.Y.) branch of the National Committee for a Sane Nuclear Policy; she was a delegate to the 1965 Pacem in Terris convocation.
