Biographical / Historical
Founded in 1967 in Washington D.C. as The New Media Project, staffed by a cooperative of a dozen political activists who were angered by the establishment press coverage of the March on the Pentagon and who wanted to develop their own news network; moved the next year to New York City; ceased operation in 1980.
