Also using the name Political Action for Peace, and later, Massachusetts Political Action for Peace, this group was organized primarily to support independent peace candidates in the 1962 election. In later elections it continued to publicize issues connected with ending the arms race, making explicit the need for peace and disarmament as a prerequisite for dealing with racial injustice and social problems.
