Historical note
Delaware County Pledge of Resistance (aka Delco Pledge of Resistance) was organized in the Fall of 1986. The group had its headquarters in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania from 1986 to 1991 and in nearby Media, Pennsylvania from 1991 to 2000. From 2000 to 2008 the group returned to Swarthmore. It was originally founded as part of The Pledge of Resistance, which began in 1984 as a response to the threat of a U.S. invasion into Nicaragua. DCPR grew as people signed a pledge resisting the U.S. government's policies toward Central America. Delaware County Pledge of Resistance persisted as a local group, after the covert wars in Central America in the 1980s and was centered in Delaware County, Pennsylvania working for economic and social justice for oppressed people in the United States and abroad. The group disbanded in winter 2008.
