Biographical / Historical

Peace and Conflict Studies was founded, as a concentration, is 1991. The program was founded in large part due to the work of J. William Frost; Jenkins Professor of Quaker History and Research, and Director of the Friends Historical Library and the Swarthmore College Peace Collection. Through the 1990s and early 2000s Frost pushed the program forward and served as head of the oversight committee for the concentration.

In 1991 the Lippincott Foundation granted the Peace and Conflict Studies program money to pay for a series of visiting lecturers to teach Peace and Conflict Studies classes and offer grant money to students doing projects related to the work of Peace and Conflict Studies. This collection includes records related to various Lippincott Grant projects from 1991 to 1999.
