Scope and Contents

The collection consists of oral history interviews conducted with more than 50 current and former Swarthmore College faculty, staff, and students, conducted by Regina Smith Oboler from 1982-1983. There are transcripts for most of the interviews.

Conditions Governing Access

Most of the transcripts in this collection are available for researchers to consult. Portions that interviewees indicated at the time were "confidential" or "off the record" were excised by Oboler and stored separately. These confidential portions may only be consulted at the discretion of the current Friends Historical Library Curator.

Note that release forms were received from most, but not all, interviewees, as indicated in the finding aid.

Abstract

The collection consists of oral history interviews conducted with more than 50 current and former Swarthmore College faculty, staff, and students, conducted by Regina Smith Oboler from 1982-1983.

Arrangement

Boxes 1-3: Transcripts, arranged alphabetically by interviewee.

Boxes 4-6: Audiocassette recordings, arranged alphabetically by interviewee.

Box 7: Confidential sections (audiocassette recordings and transcripts).

Box 8: contains Oboler's project files.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements

The recordings are on audiocassettes and can only be accessed if an audiocassette player is available or if the requestor pays for the cassette(s) to be digitized, at the discretion of the Friends Historical Library Curator depending on the fragility of the particular tapes in question.
