Biographical / Historical
Nine Partners Boarding School was established in 1795 by New York Yearly Meeting and opened in 1796. This collection contains miscellaneous papers collected by the records custodians of New York Yearly Meeting. Includes: histories of the School; a list of scholars in 1834 and registry of demerit marks in 1843; a reminiscence of student life in 1814-1819 by Richard Hallett Townsend; miscellaneous financial papers, reports, and circulars 1839-1865; a copy of the 1795 minutes establishing the School; and student correspondence, 1846-1852. In particular, two letters from William Smith to his family describe student life, 1846 and 1847.
