Biographical / Historical
Ann Jones was an English Quaker minister, the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Burgess. In 1815, she married George Jones (1765-1841), who also was a minister. From 1826 to 1830, they made an extensive religious visit to Friends in the United States. Their staunch evangelical ministry added to the tensions already brewing in the Society of Friends and resulting in the Hicksite-Orthodox Separation of 1827-1828.
