Scope and Content note This collection is comprised of the single volume day book of John Gummere. It records attendance of his pupils, likely at Westtown School, and the back of the volume includes “an account of paper sold to the children." The front inside cover of the volume includes a number of signatures of Samuel Gummere. Samuel R. Abstract

This collection contains the papers of Elizabeth French Haines, relating to Kimberton Boarding School. Included are her piecebook and copybook, letters she wrote to her father and brother while at school, a Kimberton catalogue, and letters written by Emmor Kimber to the Haines family. Also included are letters from Elizabeth to her aunt describing her work as a school teacher, letters from Kimberton friends, a family deed, and a daguerretype of Elizabeth Haines later in her life.

Holcombe (1891-1978) was a Quaker educator who was a co-founder of the Friends Council of Education and served as Secretary of the Friends General Conference and Chairman of the Committee on Education of the Friends World Conference.
