A.J. Muste (1885-1967), was ordained a minister in the Dutch Reformed Church, but later (1917), he became a member of the Society of Friends. In 1968 Steven Wayne Trimm was convicted for refusing induction into the armed services and served four years prison. Trimm fled to Canada in 1969 where he lived underground until 1974.
