Overview Witness for Peace was founded in 1983 and was headquartered in Washington, D.C. The purpose of the group was to work with the people of Central America by acting in continuous nonviolent resistance to U.S. covert or overt intervention in their countries and to help change U.S. policy to one which fostered justice, peace, and friendship with the countries of Central America.
