Abstract In 1983, supporters of the nuclear freeze founded Freeze Voter, an independent Political Action Committee (PAC). In response to the growing threat of nuclear war and the proliferation of nuclear weapons, the PAC's main goal was to "elect a President and Congress who will enact a nuclear weapons Freeze between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R.
