Sallie Marx (1929 - 2013), was a long time activist in New York City and was a war tax resister for over four decades. Marx was a co-founder of the New York Peoples Life Fund in 1971. The NYPLF redirected funds to social justice and community building efforts in New York.

Abstract
In 1968 Steven Wayne Trimm was convicted for refusing induction into the armed services and served four years prison. Trimm fled to Canada in 1969 where he lived underground until 1974. Two years later he received clemency from the U.S. government under the Earned Re-entry Program and was pardoned.
