Howard Lutz manuscripts

Overview

These manuscripts concern Emilia Fogelklou's life, writing, and involvement with the Society of Friends. They were written by Howard Lutz during his time as the T. Wistar Brown Fellow at Haverford College during the 1973-1974 academic year. The manuscripts included selected translations of Fogelklou's writing, as well as biographical information about her, and Lutz's report on his fellowship.

Overview Mary Elizabeth Garrett (1854-1915) promoted women's education by founding the Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore, Maryland, helping to finance Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, and ensuring that women were admitted to the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Emmy Noether materials

Overview

Born in Germany, Emmy Noether was a distinguished mathematician who immigrated to the United States as a refugee Jewish scholar in the 1930s where she took a teaching position at Bryn Mawr College. During the 1934-1935 academic year Noether taught one graduate level course in Algebra in the department of mathematics. Noether died suddenly in 1935 at the Bryn Mawr Hospital. The collection consists mainly of material written about Noether and memorializing Noether.
