In the letter, Carpenter expresses the sadness of not having Motts company in his previous Scarsdale Friends monthly meeting in New York. He then describes his experience of the gathering to Mott, who resides in Burlington, New Jersey.

Abstract The collection is composed largely of property and legal papers which descended in the Quaker Newbold and Fox families of Burlington County, New Jersey, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
