The collection is composed largely of property and legal papers which descended in the Quaker Newbold and Fox families of Burlington County, New Jersey, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Newbolds were among the earliest settlers and prominent landowners in West Jersey. The Fox family of Philadelphia was descended from Justinian Fox who emigrated to America in 1685.
