Collection includes typed and handwritten lists, clippings and notices about conscientious objectors that had been dismounted from a scrapbook compiled by Warren W. Hoover. Eight folders are arranged the home state of the conscientious objector; nine are arranged by the religious denomination supporting the COs; the remainder, about 2.5 linear feet, is arranged chronologically; includes conscientious objection to the Vietnam War; materials date from 1956 to 1970.
This collection consists of one item, a magazine article undated but published around 1947, titled "Why Murphy Wouldn't Fight." There is no identification as to the name or publisher of the magazine, or the author.
The collection includes information about the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Council, the Friendship Cooperative House, the conference of the National Youth Assembly Against Universal Military Training, Washington D.C. February 15-16, 1948, the Philadelphia Resist Conscription Committee, the Philadelphia Youth Council to Oppose Conscription, the Philadelphia Town Meeting of Youth and Vets, and the Veterans Commission on Court-Martial Cases.
Contains the transcript of the Young People's Peace Conference sponsored by the Joint Peace Committee of New York Quakers in 1933. Chief speakers were Frederick J. Libby, Paul Harris, Jr., Edmund B. Chaffee, Alden G. Alley, Sidney E. Goldstein, and Norman Thomas.
