Abstract

This collection contains booklets and journals from Haverford's club Bisexual, Gay, and Lesbian Alliance (BGALA). There is a journal shared by club members, several copies of a club-specific arts magazine, a resource guide for members, and several articles written for a club publication called PRISM. The collection also includes event flyers, organizational materials, Outtalk essays, and materials pertaining to the planning of the BGALA lounge.

Abstract This collection is primarily comprised of materials created by the Gay People's Alliance. Logs were kept 1976-1977, 1982-1983, and 1988-1992. These logs contain brief entries from members throughout the year regarding the happenings of the club's office hours. There is a diary kept by Gay People's Alliance members from 1985 until 1995, when the group had become the Bisexual, Gay, and Lesbian Alliance. Abstract

This collection contains some documentation of the Haverford atmosphere around the LGBTQ community in the form of official college materials mentioning the Sexuality and Gender Alliance (SAGA) and online discussion boards. Additionally, there are some SAGA-specific materials, both administrative and promotional. Finally, there are miscellaneous materials including personal reflections of the club's members and t-shirts created by the club.

Abstract

In 1987, several alumni of Swarthmore College proposed to the Alumni Office the idea of forming a gay and lesbian alumni network. The network produced several issues of a newsletter, Out Together, before apparently becoming dormant. This collection includes copies of the newsletter, letters from alumni (often featuring memoirs of gay life at Swarthmore), and other materials used for the creation and production of the newsletter.

Abstract The Intercultural Center (IC) at Swarthmore College was founded in 1992 to promote systemic change toward a multicultural perspective across the institution and to foster community-building and collaboration among diverse groups within and outside of the college.
