Penn Treaty Tree Box
Scope and Contents
A Jewelry Box in solid wood, painted maroon inside, with leather inlay on top inside, and gold scrolling around edges and at center of lid. Metal ring attached to top of lid. The front has a metal plaque inscribed "Made of theTreaty Tree, a relic of Unbroken faith of William Penn with the Indians 1682." The inside bears a card that reads, "The Library of Haverford College (Haverford, PA.) The Gift of Allen C. Thomas, 5 month, 24, 1919. Closes by lock and key, which are functional.
